Obituary - Coy Arlin Colwell (October 26, 1934 - April 14, 2019) Coy was born at home in Blue Ridge, GA on October 26, 1934, the same day the chimney caught fire. Basically, he's been lighting up people's lives ever since! He graduated Blue Ridge High School class of '54 and served in the US Army from 1954 to 1957. He declined an offer to attend West Point and chose instead to marry his high school sweetheart, Doris Taylor, March 2, 1957. Utilizing his GI bill, Coy graduated from Southern Polytechnic Institute with an associate's degree. After graduation, he joined the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers South Atlantic Division Laboratory as a Civil Engineering Technician where he served for 37 years. During this time, Coy received numerous awards and commendations. Coy and Doris raised two daughters and celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2007. He was a longstanding member of both the Fannin and Cobb county communities and a faithful member of Mt. Paran North and Canton Church. Coy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and encourager to everyone he met! He is survived by his daughters Joy Motter (husband Todd) of Acworth, GA, Amy Hollingshead (husband Tim) of Woodstock, GA. His grandchildren are Michael Motter of Douglasville, GA, Michelle Motter of Acworth, GA, Jesse Tucot (husband Eric) of Kennesaw, GA, Emily Gilbert (husband Blaze) of Kennesaw, GA, Sara Hollingshead, Woodstock, GA, and Rachel Hollingshead, Woodstock, GA. Coy has two great-grandchildren: Joseph Turcot (9 months old) and Van Gilbert (due August 14, 2019). He is also survived by his brother Ronald Colwell of Goose Creek, SC and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Taylor Colwell, his parents Roy and Dessie Campbell Colwell, his sisters Louise Colwell Patterson, Juanita Colwell Stewart, Thelma Colwell McFarland and brothers Olin Colwell, Raymond Colwell and Randall Colwell.
