Mr. E.C. "Shorty" McConnell, of Acworth, GA passed away Friday, December 16, 2016 at his residence after an extended illness. He was 93. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Poole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brad Dewberry officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Hills Cemetery with Poole Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held Monday, December 19, 2016 from 4-9 pm at Poole Funeral Home. Mr. McConnell was born October 25, 1923 in Culberson, North Carolina to the late Burley Clifford and Lille Beavers McConnell. Mr. McConnell was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Para Lee Nation and Ann Morgan; one brother, Porter McConnell; one son-in-law Bill Plymale. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Thelma McConnell, Acworth, GA; son, Michael Neal McConnell (Sunny), Acworth, GA; daughter, Sharon Plymale, Acworth, GA; two sisters, Leona Dowell, Brevard, North Carolina, and Mary Morrison, Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Michael Neal McConnell, Jr., Colyn Emil Creighton, Kelly Michaela Anderson, Sondra Niccole McArthur, and Courtney Marie Roberts; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
