James Gordon Reagan

July 11, 1927 — October 17, 2020

J. Gordon Reagan was a man for all seasons if ever there was one. He was a man of integrity, intelligence, and honor, whether at work, with family, on the ball field, on the golf course, or amid strangers. Gordon was born and raised in Asheville, NC, and loved family, sports, and mountain music. A graduate of the University of North Carolina, he served in the Central Intelligence Agency for over 30 years in various countries around the world. He was highly regarded for his "considerable tact, patience, perseverance, and innovation which justly earned the respect and admiration of all those with whom he was associated." He was awarded the Career Intelligence Medal for his exceptional achievement and contributions to the mission of the Agency. He is survived by his wife of almost 66 years, Mary Ruth, his four children, Michael Reagan, Sharon McKenney, Mark Reagan, and Sandra Phillips, his six grandchildren - Michelle Bishop, Jennifer Whitney, Katelyn Werbke, Cassandra Phillips, J. Kyle Phillips, and Evan Phillips, and his four great-grandchildren - Lily, Laura, and Christopher Bishop, and Reagan Whitney. He was an avid supporter of St. Jude's Hospital, and in lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations to St. Jude"s or a charity of their choice.
