Kevin Scott Foster

February 20, 1958 — October 11, 2021

Scott Foster, 63, left us on October 11, 2021. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side.

Scott was born on February 20, 1958 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Jerry L Foster and Patricia Figg Foster (Cokain). He was the second of three children.

At a very early age, Scott’s family moved to Speedway Indiana where he attended elementary, junior high and high school. He graduated as a Speedway High School Spark Plug, which is appropriate since Speedway Indiana is home to the Indianapolis 500 Race. Scott loved to attend these races from childhood into adulthood. In high school, he participated and lettered in football, basketball and track, as well as maintained a part-time job and was an excellent student.

After high school graduation, Scott went on to attend Ball State University with a brief stent at Indiana University in Indianapolis as well. He eventually returned back to Ball State University where he graduated with a degree in business. This is also when he met his bride, Julie Linder Foster. They met while working together as house parents at the Youth Service Bureau of Delaware County in Muncie Indiana.

Scott spent the first few years after college working for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. He then spent the majority of his successful working career with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in the Atlanta area.

Scott and his wife Julie owned a condo in Cocoa Beach, Florida where they frequently vacationed over the years with their children making many wonderful memories. Close to retirement, Scott and Julie briefly lived in Cocoa Beach while Scott worked Pharmaceutical contract jobs. It was while living here that Scott was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Following his diagnosis they decided to return to Georgia to be near their children and grandchildren.

Scott’s interests over the years have included spending time at the beach with family, golf, tennis, and sports in general. He loved his Georgia Dawgs, Atlanta Braves, Indiana Hoosiers, and any sport his children and grandchildren participated in. Even at an early age he had strong family ties. He grew up very close to his grandparents for majority of his life. His strongest interests have always been family, friends and his relationship with God. Scott’s first encounter with God was at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes camp he attended as a teen. This experience helped lead him to become a Christian later in life. He has always shared his love for God with anyone who would listen. He was a kind, caring, generous and loving man with a servant's heart.

Scott has been a long time member of the North River Church of Christ in Marietta, Georgia. Even throughout his illness he maintained an active involvement.

Scott is predeceased by his grandparents: Don and Edith Foster, George and Melba Figg; father Jerry L Foster; step-father Jerry M Cokain; sister Debra J Foster Heidenreich; brother Brad A Foster.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years Julie E Linder Foster; mother Patricia J (Foster) Cokain; step-mother Peggy J Foster; Children: Kyle Foster, Kelsey Chase (Andrew), Kevin Foster (Deanna); Grandchildren: Jace Foster, Kennedy Foster, Caden Foster and Levi Chase; nieces and nephews and many other extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Swamp Church Camp c/o North River Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society.
