1947 Kurt 2019

Kurt Kibby

February 11, 1947 — May 7, 2019

Kurt Kibby, formerly of Lansing, MI, passed peacefully May 7th, 2019 in his Canton, GA home after a brief illness. He was a loving husband of nearly 45 years to Michelle, a devoted father for nearly 35 years to Megan, and is also survived by his older brother Michael, of Buffalo NY. He has moved on to join his mother Hazel Fitzpatrick, his aunts and uncles, and his father Ralph"Bill" Kibby. Kurt was born on February 11th, 1947 and was mechanically-minded from a young age. He loved building and driving (fast) muscle cars, motorcycles and power boats. He was a hard worker and loved doing projects - building a swimming pool for his family, making furniture, and doing woodworking. For decades, Kurt was a repair specialist for large copy machines; before retiring in 2009, he worked as a facility manager for Summit Baptist Church, where he was an active member. He was a true best friend and partner to his wife Michelle, an involved and engaged father to Megan; he spent endless hours taking home videos during her childhood, took her on camping trips and to daddy-daughter dances (where she danced on his feet), and was even PTApresident of her school. He was "Mr. Fix It" for his and Michelle's home, as well as Megan's. Kurt's most recent years brought a love of watching old westerns and movies in his home, as a severe car crash in his 20s brought chronic pain and mobility issues in older years. He will be immeasurably missed. A celebration of Kurt's life will be held at The Terraces at Bridgemill, June 8th at 5pm. The family would prefer donations, in lieu of flowers, to one of the following non-profits: - Georgia Mountains Hospice, who helped the Kibby family immensely in Kurt's final days.
