Charlene Hunt, 100, of Huntington, WV Entered into Eternal Life Thursday, September 26, 2024 in Woodstock, Georgia surrounded by loved ones. Charlene was born January 3, 1924 in Ceredo WV. The daughter of James William Ratcliff and Sadie Elizabeth Ratcliffe. Charlene was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Orland C. Hunt Jr. She was also preceded in death by sisters Virginia Lee (George), Jeanette Carpenter Turner, Dorothy and Luzetta who passed in infancy, Juanita Smith (Charles), Brothers James W. Ratcliffe Jr. (Roberta), Virgil Ratcliff, (Anna), Albert Ratcliff (Elizabeth), Nieces Wanda Lee Skidmore, Mary Lou Arbaugh, nephew Lonnie Carpenter raised in the family home.
Our Mother was a member of First Baptist Church of Ceredo and a graduate of Ceredo Kenova High School.
She delighted in being a homemaker. Her neighbors were extended family. Charlene was an excellent seamstress, avid reader, and Sundays were traditional family gatherings at both grandparents’ homes, with no lack of food and fellowship. She was well known for her holiday candy-making.
Our Mother traveled many places in the USA, and seized the opportunity of a European Adventure.
Her Greatest Joy was her Grandchildren and her energy and creativity peaked during those visits.
Charlene is survived by one son Michael C. Hunt of Huntington, WV, one daughter Carla Hunt Chekos (Mark) of Woodstock, Ga. granddaughter Stephanie Chekos Baxley (Russell) of Beaufort, SC. grandson Alexander Michael Chekos (Kirsten) Woodstock, Ga. great grandson Austin Christopher Baxley, great granddaughter Allison Olivia Baxley, of Beaufort, SC.
We are grateful to Joyce Napier of Huntington for your caretaking and loving friendship.
Charlene will be interred at White Chapel Memorial Gardens next to Orland, her loving husband in a private service.
