Charles Richard Cowart

Mr. Charles Richard Cowart passed away on February 7th, 2024.

Mr. Cowart was born on July 26, 1932, in Plant City, FL to Herbert and Blanche Cowart. He spent many years working as a fire fighter at the Fort Lauderdale fire department after serving in the United States Navy for nearly 4 years. He then moved to Georgia in 1966 with his family. He got married to the love of his life, Cynthia Pauline Cowart, in 1984 and had 40 years together up until his passing. After getting settled in Georgia, Charles learned ceramic and tile installation from his brother, Donald Kenneth Cowart Senior. He took great pride in his work and was even noticed by Southern Living Magazine in the late 90’s.

Charles made himself known in the community as Mr. happy. He was given the nickname from his consistent kind and humble demeanor, as well as his infectious smile. Oftentimes, Charles began to introduce himself as Mr. happy and then revealed his actual name, he was very proud of the title that he received from his community.

He was an active member of Kellogg Creek Church of Christ for over a decade. He loved to preach wherever he went it was passionate about sharing the word of God. He saw God in most things, including his wife's dog Fuzzy. Fuzzy was even deemed a Christian dog by Charles’s standards.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth Cowart, and sister-in-law Connie Cowart.

He is survived by his wife, his children Cynthia Slaton, Nancy Cheek (David Cheek), Jessica Warren, and Jason Cowart, brother, grandchildren Joshua Moore, Elijah Moore, Chaeli Warren, Heidi Cowart, Harper Cowart, Jonathan Cheek, Holly Cheek and Hollynd Cowart, and great grandson Jaxon Moore. 

A visitation will be held at Poole Funeral Home Friday February the 9th 2024 at 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Inurnment follow at Georgia National Cemetery on February 29th, 2024, at 1:30 PM.
