Elizabeth Mockler Poe passed away on August 26th, 2023, at the age of 64. Diagnosed with cancer in June, Beth faced her illness with the same strength and determination she applied to her entire life, maintaining a brave and cheerful outlook. She died peacefully in her home in Woodstock Ga. surrounded by her family and friends.  Beth was born on October 29th, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Yvonne and Colonel Edward M Mockler.

Beth will be remembered as lively, energetic and having the most infectious laugh that would light up a room when she walked in.  She was an extremely loving mother and friend. She had a variety of passions such as cooking, traveling, entertaining, volunteering and working out.

Growing up in a military family and being able to experience life in different parts of the US may have fueled Beth’s love for travel and adventure.  As an adult, Beth traveled to Holland, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, Scotland, and most recently to Alaska. After graduating from Edison High School in Alexandria, Virginia in 1976, Beth went on to study social work at Radford University in Radford, Virginia. Once completing her degree, she worked for State Farm and USAA Insurance.  In 2007 she decided to change careers and taught Special Ed – (kindergarten through 4th grade) at Blackwell & Pitner Elementary Schools in the Cobb County school district for 14 years.

She is preceded in death by; her mother, father, and brother Michael Mockler.

She is survived by; her husband of 33 years John Poe, sons Ryan and Connor Poe, sister Laura Mockler Schultz, sister-in-law Dianna Poe, and brothers-in-law Steve Schultz and Christopher Poe.
