With our deepest love, we announce that Gary Lyman Kelly, born February 1, 1953, reconnected fully with Spirit on Oct 25, 2023 at 12:05am. He was surrounded by his immediate family in Canton, GA just before his passing, allowing him the ability say his goodbyes and experience the sweetest moments with his nine grandchildren Bennie (16) Aiden (14) Emma (9) Kellan (7) Sage (5) Jade (2) Bodhi (34 weeks), Ryder (3), and Caeden (1), his wife Linda Kelly (70) daughters Patti McTier (43) and Katie Perrington (38), son Mike Kelly (40) and their spouses. His siblings, sister Chris Kelly and brother John Kelly, were also able to speak with him before he passed.

Born in Henry Illinois in a small farm house to Esther Julia and George Raymond Kelly February 1, 1953,

Gary loved baseball and softball. He was a founding coach at Sandy Plains Park in Marietta and helped bring his years of experience watching his Mother, a Women’s Baseball and Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame player,  to the young women eager to learn the game. He coached for 12 years until Katie graduated Lassiter HS and went to college on a scholarship. He gave tirelessly of his time. Instilling the fundamentals of the game into the girls he taught and provided a safe and dependable space for them to grow. He worked as an IT consultant and traveled frequently on weekdays, but when the weekends came, it was game time.

Gary was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon in 2021 which spread to his liver, right lung, and finally his brain. He fought a good fight with a strong mind and heart and was able to communicate with us right up till his crossing over.

No services will be held except in our hearts as we ask each of you who felt an impact on your life from Gary that you send him all your love and cherished thoughts as he has left his imprint forever on his remaining family and friends.
