Gregory Hughes Dodd, a cherished husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Canton, Georgia, on April 17, 2026. Born on December 18, 1956, in Gainesville, Georgia, Gregory lived a life marked by dedication to his family and a passion for the pursuits that brought him joy.
Gregory was a devoted enthusiast of Georgia Tech Athletics and the Atlanta Braves, enjoying the spirit and camaraderie that sports foster. His love for music, both listening and sharing, was a testament to his vibrant personality. An avid golfer, Gregory found solace and challenge on the golf course, where he also appreciated time spent outdoors. He had a profound knack for technology, spending countless hours building and playing on computers, a hobby that highlighted his curiosity and ingenuity.
Above all, Gregory treasured his time with family, creating memories that will forever be held dear by those who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Harke Dodd; his sons, Bradley Taylor Dodd and his wife Jillian, and Brett William Dodd and his wife Lauren; his sister Kay Gorman and her husband Lee; as well as sisters-in-law Laura Harke and her husband David, and Debbie Brown and her husband Corey. Gregory was also a proud grandfather to William Thomas, Mary Taylor, and James Gregory. The family, including “Nana” Mary Harke, who shared in the joy of his grandchildren, will carry forward his legacy of love and togetherness.
Gregory Hughes Dodd’s presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit endures in the hearts of his family and the many lives he touched.
