James Edward Shick, a loving husband, father, brother, and friend passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024, surrounded by his family in Canton, Georgia. Born on August 8, 1958, in Rochester, New York, James led a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memorable moments.
Throughout his remarkable career, spanning 35 years at Equifax, James dedicated himself to his work and rose to the esteemed position of Vice President of USIS (United States Information Solutions) Technology. His strong work ethic, coupled with his kind and generous nature, left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, James was a devoted family man who found immense joy in coaching his sons' soccer teams as they were growing up. His proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly raising his three sons - Ethan, Hayden, and Jared - instilling in them values of love and compassion that will forever endure.
An avid outdoorsman and craftsman at heart, James indulged in hobbies such as mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing, and woodworking. He found solace in designing and creating intricate furniture pieces like tables, desks, and bookcases, while cherishing moments spent watching the Atlanta United soccer team play.
James was known for his loving and caring personality which shone through in every interaction. He possessed a unique ability to see the best in everyone around him and was always there to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear. With a calm demeanor and a knack for mediation, he brought harmony to those around him.
In addition to his immediate family, James is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Lori P. Shick; sons, Ethan Patrick Shick, Hayden Conner Shick, and Jared Spencer Shick; his sister Beth Arnold; brother Forest Shick and wife Julie; Aunt Kay Palumbo; sisters-in-law Marie Vitali and husband Gary as well as Kathleen Potter; several nieces & nephews; and numerous friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Palumbo Shick and his father, James Wilson Shick.
James’s presence will be deeply missed but his spirit will continue to live on through the cherished memories he leaves behind. His legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering generosity will forever be celebrated by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in eternal peace.
