Jeanette Crafton Pluris, 92, passed away on July 15, 2023, at her home, in Woodstock, Georgia. She was born on August 24, 1930, in LaPorte, Indiana to Victor and Doris Lonn. Jeanette grew up in Shelbyville, Indiana, and later moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from Shortridge High School, Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1947.
After high school, she attended Butler University, Indianapolis, Indiana, and received her bachelor’s degree in 1952. She received her master’s degree from Butler University in 1972.
Jeanette worked as an elementary school teacher for several years and then at Isom Central Elementary School in Greenwood, Indiana, as the school librarian from where she retired.
She enjoyed reading, bridge, and dancing. She and her husband, Philip, were actively involved in square dancing through most of the 1980s. They also enjoyed bridge and played frequently with their friends. The Pluris’ moved to Florida in 1992 and continued their love of bridge and played regularly. Jeanette also became actively involved in the clogging dance group. They lived in Florida until moving to Georgia to be closer to family in 2009.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Philip; her daughter, Cynthia; and her great-grandchild, Fallon. Jeanette is survived by her son, Michael (Sandy) Pluris, Woodstock, Georgia; daughter, Cheryl Fridley, Woodstock, Georgia; and her grandchildren, Kristin Fridley-Gantt, Woodstock, Georgia; Stephanie Fridley, Marietta, Georgia; and Cynthia Fridley, Woodstock, Georgia; and great-grandchild, Asher Gantt.
A visitation will be held at Poole Funeral Home, 1970 Eagle Drive, Woodstock, Georgia, 30189 on Wednesday, July 19th, 2023 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The family will be greeting friends and relatives. Jeanette will be interred at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
