John Love Jones

September 7, 1947 — February 6, 2022

To know John Jones, you knew him as an avid baseball fan who loved watching his favorite team, The Atlanta Braves. Watching them over the last 30+ years brought him considerable enjoyment but not as much as their World Series win this season. John entered heaven Sunday, Feb. 2, 2022 after a severe stroke. He is survived by his loving wife Rita. Both John and Rita resided in Acworth, GA and are members of Harvest Baptist Church.

John's life began on Sept. 7, 1947 in Memphis, TN. At the age of 10 his family moved to Indianapolis. He graduated from Ball State University and began a career in auto sales at Baker Motors in Buckhead. Hennessey Honda employed him for 20 years where he made life long friends.

In 1969 John's parents bought a home in Gulfshores, AL. where many happy memories were shared by his sister, Babs, niece Ann and nephews John Hodge, Mark, Andrew and Charlie. This is where John's passion for salt water fishing grew. He, Bryan and Suzanne shared many special memories on the water together. They also enjoyed time spent fishing on Lake Allatoona as well.

John also enjoyed watching his grandson, Charles Dumas, grow into the young man he has become. John seldom missed one of Charles' football or lacrosse games let alone one of his major life events.

We all knew John as a kind and loving man with a real zeal for life.
