Peggie Ann Hawkins

Peggie Ann Hawkins, of Austell, Georgia passed away Friday, October 23, 2020 at Emory University Hospice & Palliative Care in Atlanta. She was 60. Mrs. Hawkins was born on June 30, 1960 in Marietta, Georgia to the late John Calvin and Bobbie Durham Cox. Mrs. Hawkins was married to the love of her life for over 45 years and they raised two children together, Kenneth C. Hawkins Jr. and Amanda Hawkins (Duttry). Peggie truly cherished her family and enjoyed the moments she was able to spend with each of her family members. In addition to her duties as wife and mother, Peggie worked for the Cobb County Government in the Tax Assessor's Office for more than 20 years, many of those years as a supervisor. Peggie's favorite things were music, her four Yorkshire Terriers, and the beach. She also enjoyed cooking & baking, her garden, and shopping. Peggie was the recipient of a double lung transplant in June of 2019, and continued to be a faithful warrior and fighter until she passed. Peggie was preceded in death by her parents; her oldest sister, Wanda Jo Vinson; and her brother, James Thomas Cox. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth C. Hawkins, Sr; her son, Kenneth C. Hawkins, Jr.; her daughter, Amanda L. Duttry; her grandchildren, Axen Parker Hawkins, Gage Camden Hawkins, and Temperance Monroe Hawkins; her sisters, Sheryll Darlene Cox, Bobbie Jean Cox Ely (Michael), Jimmie Cox Munn (David); numerous nieces and nephews; and her four precious Yorkshire Terriers, Diesel, Daisy, Lacey, and Harley. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, October 26, 2020 at St. Andrew United Methodist Church with Rev. Josh Amerson, Rev. Terry Phillips, and Rev. Beth Clark officiating. Peggie will then be laid to rest at Riverview Memorial Gardens with Poole Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held from 2:30 PM until 3:00 PM at the church on Monday before the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), www.ASPCA.org. Pallbearers will be Kenneth, Jr., Shane Addison, Mike Young, and Chris Bowen.
