Robert W. Fodge

August 7, 1932 — November 28, 2023

A full lifetime of 91 years was completed by Robert W. Fodge. He went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ while in hospice care at his daughter’s home in Acworth, Georgia. Robert W. Fodge, enjoyed living with his daughter, Susan Elaine Fodge Vance, for the past 10 years in Acworth, Georgia (in the northwest area of the Atlanta, Georgia Metroplex).

Robert was born August 07, 1932, in Red River County, Detroit, Texas. His parents were Russie Jones Fodge and Vera Edith Vickers Fodge.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Debra Louise Fodge and wife Virginia Don Preston Fodge; parents Vera Edith Vickers Fodge and Russie Jones Fodge; brother Mack Fodge and son-in-law Paul Wayne Vance.

The first 19 years of his life involved the problems of growing up on a farm during the great depression, followed by WWII. The labor of farming, milking cows, gardening, and surviving the hardships of those periods were familiar, everyday experiences.

He graduated from Detroit High School in 1949 as valedictorian, which enabled him to attend Paris Junior College. During that time, in addition to his scholastic studies, Robert met and married the love of his life, Virginia Preston. The next two years were spent at College Station, Texas, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

In 1953, Robert and his wife moved to the Dallas, Texas area where he worked as an engineer at Chance Vought Aircraft Company.

In 1955, Robert Michael Fodge was born, followed by the birth of a daughter, Debra Louise Fodge who died in infancy. In the following years, two more children were born; Susan Elaine Fodge and Jeffrey Donald Fodge.

Robert continued a career at Chance Vought, Temco, Ling Temco Vought, and E -Systems Inc. That career included managing Quality Control projects that included the Gemini and Apollo space programs. One of many passions Robert had was his love for writing and research. This paired with Virginia’s love for genealogy research. One of the results of this research was a book written and published, God’s Clock, A Bible reference to the chronology/timeline of the Old Testament. Many commentaries were written as well.

Robert is survived by his son, Robert Michael Fodge, and his wife Janet Lee Sanders Fodge; daughter, Susan Elaine Fodge Vance; and son, Jeffrey Donald Fodge and his wife Glenda Sue Gurley Fodge and brother, Dr. Douglas Fodge.
