Mr. Snow Mitchell, Jr.

September 4, 1948 ~ April 17, 2021 (age 72)

Snow Mitchell, Jr. was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 4,1948. He was the second of three sons born to the union of Lula Mae (Fancher) and Snow Mitchell, Sr.
Snow graduated from Custer High School in 1965. He was the first National Achievement Scholarship winner in the state of Wisconsin. He used that scholarship to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree as a Math major at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He went on to earn his MBA from the University of Chicago. Not only was Snow a scholar, he was also an athlete. He wrestled in high school in the 105-pound weight class and played basketball in high school and college. During his graduate years at U of C he took up golf which soon became one of his passions.

He was married to Kathleen (Mays) and they celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 1, 2020. They were blessed with two sons Brian Anthony and Gregory Andrew.

Snow loved numbers, teaching, coaching, people, and the Lord. These loves helped fuel his life work as a high school math teacher, bank president, project manager, prison ministry administrator, church financial officer. He felt that each step, although quite different than the one before it, prepared him for the next step on his career path. Romans 8:28 says “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Before moving to Georgia, Snow accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of St. Mark AME Church where he served as a Junior Steward. He joined Allen Temple AME Church in Woodstock in 1996. He served on the Evangelism Ministry, Sons of Allen, Golf Ministry, chaired the Building Commission, Steward Board, Sunday School and Bible Study teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and Director of Christian Education.

Snow transitioned from his earthly home to his Heavenly home on April 17, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers – Kenneth and Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Kathleen, his children: Brian (Jackie) and Greg (Angela); grandchildren: Jada, Joy, and Alonzo; Mays family: Eileen, (Deborah), Harry (Vernita), Richard (Michelle), Lorine (Bernard), and Julius (Tracy), aunts: Mildred Cross, Jackie Edwards, Mary Ann Fancher, Dorothy Fancher, and Melvin Jean Fancher; a host of cousins, including his “identical cousin” Ed Mitchell, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

God Saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to be, So, he put His arms around him, and whispered “Come with Me.”
With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
